Open the start menu and locate the control panel.
Select Network and Sharing Center.
Under the 'Change your Network Setting' window there is the Troubleshoot aol desktop gold Problems’ option.
Troubleshoot internet connections.'
For troubleshooting the wireless network, Ethernet, or other network adapters, select 'Network Adapter' in the same window. This will let you know if the modem is not working , or if the internet connection is not working.
